Working With Me
My approach is empathic, direct and collaborative. I will follow your lead to understand areas of stuckness, pain and potential growth - together.
As a reproductive psychiatrist, I have developed an expertise working with individuals across various life stages, including preconception, fertility treatments, pregnancy, postpartum, pregnancy loss, and menopause. I also work with non-birthing parents and fathers. I have experience in a range of clinical settings from inpatient and partial hospitalization programs to outpatient care, and am comfortable managing complex cases.
For new and expecting parents, the transition into parenthood is a sacred and at times painful transformation, both physically and psychologically. Oftentimes, relationship templates from our own childhood become activated which can cause suffering, especially when our models for caregiving were complex or traumatic. The birth of a child is central to this dynamic, and I can support you as you come into your identity as a parent while also coming into relationship with your baby.
My psychotherapeutic process is integrative - trauma-informed and primarily grounded in attachment-based psychodynamic theory. We will work with feelings and interactions as they emerge within the therapeutic relationship to help us understand you and your relational patterns. We may also incorporate mindfulness, breathwork, distress tolerance and interpersonal communication strategies. As a prescriber, I see medications as a tool that can provide relief of symptoms - to turn down the volume on anxiety or restore access to positive emotions. My goal is to help you feel more like yourself.
I believe that healing comes through the experience of love and safety in connection with others. It is a privilege to support individuals through profound life transitions, finding well-being within an ever-evolving family system.
